Job Description

Although this house looks ok it was, in fact, only held together by chicken wire and some strips of lath at the tie beam (beneath the top window). The right hand corner post retained only about 50 % of the solid timber it had started with, the cills (timber at the base of the frame) were non-existant and had been packed up with bits of slate and random stones. The house was freezing due to crumbling brickwork in the frame.

We worked closely with the representatives from English Heritage and timber repair experts to achieve a building which, looks remarkably similar but is insulated and will stand for another 250 years.
